Bala Brook Christmas Retreat 2018

The Christmas retreat is hosted by Jo Pelly, Josie Cowgill and Camilla Jackson

The retreat is a calming and nourishing environment providing respite and space away from the busyness and noise of daily life - it will be held in a meditative atmosphere, mostly in silence and will be centred around sessions on yoga, meditation, cleansing breath work and restorative yoga. Additional options included in the retreat price are walking on Dartmoor, water colour painting in the beautiful art studio and other creative sessions such as drama games or physical theatre.

The maximum group size is 12 people.
Accommodation
The retreat is for 4 nights. Price is inclusive of accommodation, food and activities.

Room with shared bathroom: £390

PLEASE BRING YOUR SHEETS (OR DUVET COVER) PILLOWCASES AND TOWELS
or pay £15 to hire these from the centre.

Arrival - please arrive by about 4.00 pm in time to settle in before first session Hatha yoga 4.45 pm
Departure - after lunch on the last day.

Taxi Share - if you arrange to arrive at Totnes station sometime between about
2-3pm, we can put you in touch with others arriving around then.

Sample Daily Schedule - may be modified according to the weather
7:00 - Pranayama
Breakfast
9:30 - Meditation with short talk/instructions
Tea break
10:45 – Hathayoga
1:00 Lunch
Afternoons: Painting, walking or free time
5:00 – Restorative yoga
6:00 - Meditation
Supper
After supper sessions may include: chanting, creative sessions, painting and offerings from the group.

Further Information
QUIETNESS these events are 'retreats', rather than ‘workshops’, providing opportunity to find one's inner quietness, detaching from the talkative modes of normal social life. Some days are held in silence.
HATHAYOGA Camilla’s yoga sessions will uplift us with a subtle balance of effort and ease, suitable for functionally fit people with some understanding of yoga
PRANAYAMA to clear stress & obstacles, opening to prana flow.
MEDITATION SESSIONS Jo elucidates aspects of yoga philosophy A formal sitting meditation posture is encouraged - but some people prefer to use a chair. The sitting periods are not longer than about half an hour, or are interspersed with walking meditation. Breath-watching is the basic practice, plus other techniques -visualisations and "Awareness" exercises.
NATURE Dartmoor National Park, the living stillness in trees, rocks, rivers, wild creatures & the weather guides our attention into essential calm vitality
WALKS up on the Moor are suitable for people who can manage rough ground, … Some people prefer shorter strolls keeping to the lanes. Please bring outdoor clothing, wooly hat, stout footwear.
WATER-COLOUR PAINTING is optional. Gouache, brushes and paper are provided - or you can bring your own.
FOOD Delicious vegetarian food, with professional cook.
